UNIBEN: Ag. Dean hands over, Lauds VC.

  The former Faculty of Arts Ag. Dean Prof. Christopher E. Ugolo, has recently handed over to Prof. C.L Yuka after the faculty's election which held on Monday 14th November, 2022. Prof. Ugolo, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts, described his tenure as interesting, peaceful and a successful one. According to him, the office of the Dean is a clearing house with the Dean as a chief coordinator that coordinates heads of departments,  the affairs of students in the faculty , academic and non academic staff as well as happenings in the Faculty to ensure everything runs smoothly. Speaking further, he congratulated and described his successor Prof. C.L Yuka as a humble and intelligent gentlman. He will in no doubt deploy his expertise to take the Faculty to a higher level. Tinubu bags chieftaincy title in Ebonyi.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, reportedly bagged a chieftaincy title in Ebonyi State. Tinubu got the title, “Dike Di Ora Nma 1 of Ebonyi State” ahead of the presidential campaign rally, scheduled to hold on Thursday at the Pa Ngele Oruta township stadium in the state capital. According to Chooks Oko, an aide to the Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, Tinubu was given the title of ‘Dike Di Ora Nma’ which means ‘Hero that is loved by the people.’ The conferment took place during a town hall meeting on Wednesday in the state. An APC supporter, DOlusegun, had also tweeted a picture of the APC presidential candidate clad in a full Igbo-regalia and flanked by some women presenting a wrapped gift item, with the caption, “Asiwaju bags Chieftaincy Title In Ebonyi State. “He Is Now The DIKE DI ORA NMA 1 Of Ebonyi State.” Source: Punch

Human rights activist and Founder, One Love Foundation, Chief Dr Patrick Osagie Eholor has expressed worry over Edo’s share of the 13% oil revenue for the 9 oil producing states. He says in this interview that Governor Godwin Obaseki has kept information on the money a secret, even refusing to include it in the budget. Eholor is suing the governor as a result. Nkechi Blessing finally meets Ooni Of Ife.

Popular Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing, has recently met the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II. She revealed this via her Instagram account on Monday. Sharing a picture of herself and the king, she said, “Ever met a jovial king? Well this picture says it all🤭🤭 I have never laughed this hard in a long time. Thank you soo much for the warm reception His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja (11) #ooniadimulaife God bless your existence Kabiesi 🙏🏻”  Daily feed reports that the visit comes weeks after the actress had taken to social media to make public her intention to be the next wife of the highly respected Yoruba monarch. Buhari Unveils Re-Designed Naira Notes.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday finally unveiled the re-designed Naira Notes as proposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele had on Tuesday said that the president will unveil the newly designed N1,000, N500 and N200 notes. The unveiling today, marks the first time in 19 years, Nigeria will be redesigning it’s currency notes. At a briefing after the ceremony before the Federal Executive Council meeting, the CBN governor debunked insinuations suggesting that the early unveiling of the new notes is a means to target some Nigerians. Mr Emefiele appealed to members of the public, urging them to desist from making such speculation, adding that that there is no need to perpetuate any such information. According to him, the CBN will intensify the monitoring process and interrogate the process of withdrawals. Peter Obi will make PDP lose, one Kano LG gives APC more votes than South-East – Ganduje.

  The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, running for presidency is a “good omen” for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Daily Post reported that Ganduje stated this during an interview with Channels Television on Monday. When asked if the growing popularity of Obi may cause problems for the APC, the Kano governor said: “The effect of the emergence of Labour Party with Peter Obi, I think it is a good omen for the APC because our major contender is the PDP. “If you look at it, what is our political investment in the South-east? “The votes we got from Nassarawa LGA in Kano metropolitan were much higher than the total votes the APC got in the whole five States of the South-east. “You can see that if there is any problem, politically in the South-east, it is the PDP that will suffer the brunt.”

Benue PDP brands campaign vehicles without Atiku’s picture.

Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has made good his threat not to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku with the branding of over 30 vehicles without his image. The vehicles were unveiled and distributed to PDP campaign coordinators across the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue state. However, it is no news that the PDP party had been dealing with intra party conflict which made the Five led Governors stand out and gave a name G5.  The general election is around the corner as the campaigns have started, different party have started taking their campaigns from state to state amidst the insecurity state of the country.

Breaking News: COURT GRANTS LEAVE FOR JUDICIAL REVIEW SUIT OVER TOMPOLO 4.5BILLION NAIRA CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.

As several NGOs and groups has show interest on the recent award of pipeline surveillance contract to Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, a non-profit making organisation, One Love Foundation, OLF,who have before now demanded details of the contractual terms and documents about the contract based on the Freedom of Information Act,have been granted interim orders of mandamus and  leave to commence judicial review suit against the minister of petroleum and agf over their failure to make public and release the above TOMPOLO contract papers for scrutiny. One Love Foundation Slams INEC with Lawsuit For Failure to Discharge Duty.

The Democratic Observer General of Nigeria and the President of One love foundation, Chief Dr. Patrick Osagie Eholor Otherwise known as Ultimate equal, has recently filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission for its failure to take necessary actions in disqualifying the presidential candidate of the ruling All progressive Congress Bola Ahmed Tinubu as earlier proposed.  This information was disclosed in the legal document issued by a group of legal practitioners on behalf of Chief Patrick, asking INEC to take the administrative steps and exercise its investigative Powers in ensuring that the APC presidential candidate is disqualified from participating in the 2023 general elections, adding that failure to do so, will have them visit the FCT high court or other competent courts, to seek interpretation.  The two page document reads: “We are legal practitioners to Chief Patrick Eholor (A Labour party stalwart)and Also represents   incorporated...

The Nigerian Medical Association has called for psychiatric evaluation  of governorship and presidential candidates ahead of the 2023 elections. The professional body also said medical tests of the candidates would provide a comprehensive view of the state of the body system of those aspiring to hold political offices in the country. There had been calls for medical screening of candidates to determine their state of health with many Nigerians arguing over the constitutionality or otherwise of such a move. The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), stoked the controversy in April when he asked political parties to include drug integrity tests as part of the screening processes for  candidates. Flood vs Resumption after ASUU Strike : Flood affected Students Cry for Help.

Following the Elimination of the prolonged ASUU strike, resumption has been challenging for some Nigerian students, due to the disasters they are faced with. While funding alone seems to be the challenge of some students, for some others, it is coupled with the devastating effects of the flood. A University student with her name undisclosed, lamented how the flood came at a wrong time and affected her parents business also leaving their properties destroyed. With this there is a little imbalance in the family,  which can not guarantee her going back to school. The final year student who said that the semester is short, emphasized that she requires a lot of finance to settle school activities. But sadly, she has not even gotten transport fare to resume.
