Atiku’s FRUSTRATION AND THE FUTILITY OF HIS VISIT TO OBASANJO

The recent visit of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has sparked debates, but one thing is clear—it was an exercise in futility. Atiku's attempt to court Obasanjo’s influence in the political landscape has proven to be a waste of time, as the former president no longer holds the political relevance he once commanded.

For years, Obasanjo has positioned himself as a kingmaker, meddling in Nigeria’s political affairs. However, his era of influence is fading. His constant criticism of successive administrations, despite being a key figure in Nigeria’s past challenges, has left many questioning his moral authority to dictate the country's future. Nigerians are aware that Obasanjo played a role in some of the nation's systemic problems, and his interventions are increasingly seen as self-serving rather than patriotic.

Atiku's desperation is evident. Having contested for the presidency multiple times without success, he continues to seek alliances that hold no real political weight. His visit to Obasanjo was an attempt to gain credibility and perhaps secure support, but the reality is that Nigerians have moved on. The country is focused on real progress, not recycled political alliances that serve personal ambitions rather than national interest.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the other hand, stands as a God-sent leader to reposition Nigeria for greatness. His pragmatic leadership, bold economic reforms, and commitment to national development are what Nigeria needs. Unlike Atiku, who has spent decades chasing the presidency without a clear blueprint for change, Tinubu is already taking decisive steps to address the nation's challenges.

Atiku's visit to Obasanjo is a clear sign of political frustration. Rather than dwelling on old political tricks, it would serve him better to reflect on why Nigerians have repeatedly rejected him at the polls. The people of Nigeria are looking for results, not political grandstanding. Tinubu is delivering on his promises, and no amount of desperate alliances will change the fact that the country is moving forward under his leadership.
